Tiled Bath Panel Access

Rema is a system for creating concealed access panels in tiled walls.

Kit contains 4 magnets and 4 mounting plates. They can also be used on vanity basins where there may be the need to get to pipes and services in the future. If something goes wrong and you need to access the underside of the bath you may prefer having an access panel installed to allow you to get in without undoing all of your hard work. Once you have all your strike plates fastened onto your cross braces the back of your access panel should look like this.

A wall access panel is ideal for creating concealed access in tiled wall coverings. An alternative method would be to use mirror headed screws through the tile and the wedi marmox board to make a whole section of the bath panel tile wedi board removeable. We wanted to rejuvenate our bathroom at minimal cost and decided to. Rema provides accessibility to electrical and plumbing without impairing the visual appeal of a tile covering.

They are used in a tiled surface to ensure there is access to services behind the bath panel such as waste pipes and tap fitments. Thus panels that access electrical or plumbing components do not impair the visual appearance of the tile. The magnets and mounting plates integrate seamlessly with any tile size and thickness. This approach would be trickier to do and would not be as seamless a finish as the other method outlined above but would allow for a larger access panel.

It will likely be out from the frame or substrate next to it a little too far. One more step then you re ready for tile. Place your access panel into place until the magnets grab it securely. You can then decide the size and placement of the access panel as it is aesthetically better to make it to the size of say 4 full tiles rather than having to cut tiles and therefore having an unsightly line through them.

Another option is to attach the tiles to the tile backing board before screwing it on thus screwing through the tiles as well. Tile the room first this will allow you to plan the bath panel tiling accurately by lining the bath panel tiles up with the wall.
